How can we save money on homeschooling needs?

Money Savings Tip 1:  Discounts!
Some local establishments give discounts to homeschoolers  Did you know all these?  Do you know any others?

  • Borders Books
  • Kinkos (10% academic discount card)
  • Teaching Toys (!0% on anything used for homeschool, provided you don't request gift wrapping)
  • Barnes & Noble (if you show letter of intent)
Money Savings Tip 2:  Buying Used!
Selection of used books is unpredictable, and you have to be careful (know the best new price for comparison), but great bargains can be found.  We suggest the following:
Highly recommended sources:
  • May Used Curriculum Sale in Puyallup at Fruitland Grange (on the Corner of 112th and 86th Ave. E.)

  • The May Used Curriculum Sale sponsored by Bethel Assembly support group

  • The Tacoma Book Center: We've found Elsie Dinsmore, Saxon; BIG store.  Address:  324 E. 26th (by the dome)

  • June two-day Curriculum Fair in Portland includes a superb used curriculum sale on Saturday.

  • Annual summer sale supplement in Tacoma Home Educators' News
Runners-up
  • Web site exchanges:   Christian Curriculum Cellar at ccc.simplenet.com or VegSource at www.vegsource.com, or eBay Homeschool listings.
  • HSA Happenings: HSA members post ads in their newsletter, but these are few.
